ABW 211D - 1966 X-RAF Land Rover Series IIA - SOFT TOP
2286cc 4cyl Petrol Free Road Tax - Tax Exempt Classic Car Insurance Manufactured 24th February 1966, this particular Land Rover was dispatched to the MOD Central Vehicle Depot, Ashchurch on 11th March 1966. Purchased by the one and only civilian owner in 1995, this Land Rover has been the subject of a complete ground up rebuild - to original RAF livery - Finished in Authentic RAF Matt Blue. Finally restored and registered in 2006, this Land Rover has done little if any work since and stands ready for another lifetime of use. Mileage of 8,305 is believed to be genuine and original - this is backed up by the rust free condition of the chassis and bulkhead. Lots of original features including:

SJJ 841F - 1967 Land Rover Series IIA - Truck Cab
2286cc 4cyl Diesel Free Road Tax - Tax Exempt Classic Car Insurance 1 OWNER FROM NEW !! 70,000 Genuine Miles Time Warp I am often asked where we buy our Land Rovers from - My answer is always the same "Most of the Land Rover we buy - FIND US". This is the case with "SJJ" - I was actually "on the road" collecting another Land Rover (about 10 miles away from where this was located), when the phone call came in. When I returned the call the next day, I could not believe I had been within 10 miles of this Land Rover (Hiding in Surrey, on the banks of the river Thames) the previous day. I arranged to view a couple of weeks later - and was speechless when I saw it for the first time. The Land Rover is in TOTALLY ORIGINAL and UNSPOILED condition. The only modification that has been done in the 43 years of previous ownership, was the addition of the Truck Cab (It was supplied new as a Soft Top). The only notable repair was the fitting of a new rear X-member in 1995. The chassis and bulkhead are absolutely solid, and require no repairs. The bodywork is extremely straight, and free from any damage, finished in Deep Bronze Green. The paintwork has dulled with age, but should brighten up with a good polish, and I would urge any future custodian of this Land Rover to resist the temptation to respray the paintwork ! There are plenty of "Shiny" Land Rovers available - but not so many with the original 43 year old paint ! The interior also features the original "Elephant Hide" seats (a rarity in themselves) - and being the Diesel a hand throttle was also included ! The Land Rover was supplied new on 29th December 1967 by Henley's, The Hyde, Hendon, London. The original purchase invoice is included with the Land Rover. This in itself makes interesting reading - The basic cost (in Pounds, Shillings and pennies - for those of us old enough to remember them !) was £824.0.0 There was then additional charges for things such as:
Prospective buyers of this Land Rover will be disappointed to realise that the cost today is substantially more than the £824 new price, but then again, in 1967 10 gallons of diesel could be acquired for £2.13.09, and 12 months annual road tax was £17 pounds 10 shillings and 0 pennies ! Luckily - being pre 1972 - the road fund licence on this Land Rover is now FREE ! The price quoted will include any recomissioning work, a pair of new door tops, and the choice of either Truck Cab or Full Soft Top.
