What a gem, originally supplied new to "Station 21 Bishop Auckland" fire station in 1966 and was used as the station officers staff vehicle. It had been decided that a 4 x 4 was necessary due to the Hamsterly Forest. IT was fleet number 237 - and still carries this mark today. It left service in the late 80's with less than 50,000 miles. There is a lovely letter from the fire service to back up this information. It has been in private ownership since, and has undergone a ground up restoration (photo's to prove), and has been retro fitted with a 200 Tdi engine, which makes this a lovely drivable classic car. It is well known by Land Rover enthusiasts, and has been a familiar sight at shows over the years, and was featured in "Land Rover Monthly" October 2004 - 4 page spread. As can bee seen from the photo's - it is sold with a lot of equipment, including period PYE radio (not connected), large search lamp, uniforms (steady now ladies !), and much more. OAS 821 - Land Rover Series I - 109" READY TO SHOW 35,600 miles - believed to be genuine 2.0 litre 4 cyl petrol The 109 series one was always a rare article, as it was only produced from autumn 1956 to April '58. Many lovely features, such as smiths heater, and deluxe cab. Recently the subject of articles in both Land Rover Monthly magazine and Land Rover enthusiast.
