Brian and Susan Crossland – Malaga Spain
1998 LHD Land Rover Discovery – 300 TDi
When Brian and Susan decided to retire to Spain, it was a lifelong ambition fulfilled. By October 2001, everything was planned, the villa was purchased, their house in Emley near Huddersfield was sold, their new LHD F*rd was about to arrive any day – nothing could go wrong !
Nothing that is until a phone call from their dealer informing them that the car would NOT be arriving anytime in the near future !

A few panic phone calls later and Brian made contact with us – Not too much to ask he said, it had to be 4 wheel drive, Diesel, Left Hand Drive, new or nearly new, Air Conditioning, and ready to go within 2 weeks.
A few more panic phone calls, and we had managed to locate this 1998 LHD Discovery – One owner, low miles, absolutely perfect – except no Air Conditioning – ahh!
Just one more phone call to Elite Automotive, and the problem was solved. The vehicle was purchased, prepared by us, A/C fitted by Elite, and ready to go with 3 days to spare !
December 2001 update:
Hi Mark,
Please find enclosed the photo’s as promised.
We drove to Dover on Wednesday 14th November, then caught the ferry to Calais. We drove through France then down through Spain to Trabuco. The Land Rover was brilliant, and the journey was superb all the way. I have now got used to the “aggressive” tactics, and my thinking is “I’m BIG, I’m RED, MOVE!” It usually works 🙂
The villa is just about sorted downstairs now, then after Christmas we will be furnishing the upstairs.
Over the past 3 weeks the weather has been great, sometimes up to 100 degrees in the sun.
Anyway, enjoy the photo’s, have a good Christmas and New Year, and thanks again for all your assistance with the vehicle

Jan 2004 update
Dear Mark,
Just to wish you a Happy New Year from Brian and Susan Crossland. Here is an updated view of our property in Spain. As you can see we still have Brian’s Big Red, which he adores. It does a great job of ferrying people to and from the airport and is great for going to the places where an ordinary vehicle would not be able to go. We have been very busy in the upstairs apartment and some people are returning for their fourth visit. We have the pool and an outside bar. The pool has a jacuzzi and it is also illuminated at night with fibre optic lighting.
We have settled very well here. We have some friends who are looking for a Left Hand Drive 4×4. If you have anything of interest can you please email
me?
Thank you very much for your consideration. I will also send you a flyer by email.
