Project Tithonus
Around 2007 / 2008 the Ministry of Defense “Refurbished” a number of (1985 – 1987) Land Rovers 110s (exact numbers and estimates vary from 1200 to 2700) under the “Life Extension Plan” (LEP)
Project Tithonus as it was called was to extend the service life of these Land Rovers from 20 to 30 years.
Mainly 110 FFR (Fitted for Radio) were chosen, as these were often in better condition than the General Service Land Rovers.
They were given a number of improvements such as:
- Wolf type roll cage
- Wolf type hard top
- Wolf Wheels
- Rear seats with belts
- Improved “defender style” front seats
- Bulkheads – refurbished where necessary
- Chassis – Refurbished where necessary
- Front and rear soundproofing
So – effectively 75% WOLF for about half the money !!
